Overview

The annual Idaho Innovation Awards is Idaho’s first and only innovation awards program. The program recognizes innovations, innovative professionals and companies throughout the state. The Boise office of Stoel Rives LLP, a full-service, U.S. business law firm, has organized and hosted the program since 2006 and is pleased to organize this year’s program with Kickstand and the Idaho Technology Council.

2010 PROGRAM RECAP

The 2010 program was held in conjunction with the inaugural Hall of Fame banquet. More than 300 individuals attended event at the Boise Centre on the Gove on October 27 to pay tribute to the Hall of Fame inductees, and the Idaho Innovation Awards’ finalists and winners. Attendees included leaders from Idaho’s technology, business and academic communities. The program and event received media coverage from across the state. The 2010 winners are as follows:

NOMINATION CATEGORIES

Nominations in the following categories will be accepted to the sixth annual Idaho Innovation Awards:

CategoryDescription
Commercialized Innovation of the YearThis category is designed to recognize innovations from university technology transfer offices, and companies that are less than five years old. The innovations are not commercialized, still in or just emerging from the R&D stage, and are NOT generating revenue.
Early-Stage Innovator of the YearThis category is designed to recognize innovations from university technology transfer offices, and companies that are less than five years old. The innovations are not commercialized, still in or just emerging from the R&D stage, and are NOT generating revenue.
Innovative Company of the YearThis category is designed to recognize innovative companies through its management style, product line, or service approach.
Innovator of the YearThis category is designed to recognize innovative business professionals; individuals who demonstrate innovative characteristics in their careers and workplace.

JUDGING

Nominations are evaluated by the Idaho Innovation Awards Selection Committee that is made up of Idaho business and technology leaders.

In the event that conflicts exist between Selection Committee members and nominations, members will provide full disclosure to the rest of the committee. Following the evaluation process, each Selection Committee member will vote on ALL nominations submitted in EACH category. However, Selection Committee members with conflicts will refrain from voting on nominations in the category that the conflicted nomination is being judged. Finalists will be notified in mid-September. Selection Committee members’ votes will be tabulated by a certified public accountant.

(Note: While the law firm Stoel Rives LLP organizes the program, no one from the firm votes.)

HOW TO SUBMIT A NOMINATION FORM

Click Nomination Form to submit a nomination form. Submitters will receive immediate confirmation that a nomination was received.

You may also submit additional background materials to help the Selection Committee learn more about the nominated individual, company or innovation. Examples of items you may wish to include are product brochures, news articles, photographs, diagrams or the names of and contact information for references.

Limit the additional background materials to FIVE PAGES and email the materials to Tammie Gonzalez at tlgonzalez@stoel.com with the subject line: Innovation Awards: Additional Materials for (Insert Company/Individual name).

At the top of the first page of the additional materials, clearly identify the nomination category and nomination name.

AWARDS BANQUET

Idaho Innovation Awards finalists and winners will be announced and recognized at an Awards Banquet this Fall held in conjunction with the Idaho Technology Council Hall of Fame on October 26, 2011 at the Boise Centre on the Grove. Registration information will be available this Fall.
