Mr. Merkley is currently Risk Financing Manager for Huntsman Corporation. His responsibilities include various aspects of the company’s risk management programs – spanning over 70 operations in 25 countries. Prior to joining Huntsman, Mr. Merkley was in the corporate risk management group of Koch Industries, Inc. and before that he worked as a consultant at Tillinghast-Towers Perrin where he advised clients on a variety of enterprise risk management (ERM) issues.

Mr. Merkley’s views on ERM have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Treasury & Risk and Risk Management Magazine and he has spoken several times at risk management-related conferences. According to a 2008 study in the Journal of Applied Finance, Mr. Merkley’s 2001 book, "Enterprise Risk Management: Trends and Emerging Practices" (which he co-authored) ranks among the top 10 most-read books on ERM by risk professionals.

Mr. Merkley earned his B.S. degree from Brigham Young University and his M.B.A. from the University of Georgia. He is a member of the National Insurance Advisory Team for the Boy Scouts of America and is currently serving as Chair of the Risk Management Services Committee for the 2010 National Scout Jamboree. He is also a board member of the Utah Captive Insurance Association (UCIA).
