Press Release

SEATTLE—Stoel Rives is pleased to announce that partner Claire Mitchell has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Washington Wine Industry Foundation for a three-year term, effective January 1, 2024.

“Stoel Rives has been a longtime supporter and sponsor of the Foundation and its mission. I’m honored to now have the opportunity to drive that mission in a more direct way and to give back to our outstanding wine industry here in Washington,” Mitchell said. “I’m especially looking forward to supporting the Foundation’s scholarship program, which empowers students to study wine and prepares them for a future in the Washington wine community.”

With a goal to strengthen the Washington wine industry through sustainability initiatives and support of students pursuing higher education in viticulture and enology, the Foundation has awarded over $3 million in grants supporting winemaking and winegrape growing since 2002. Additionally, the Washington Wine Industry Foundation has provided nearly half a million dollars in scholarships to over 250 viticulture and enology students.

Mitchell has spent more than a decade representing wineries and other beverage alcohol and hospitality businesses in the Pacific Northwest. She advises producers both regional and national, importers, vineyards, restaurants, hotel operators, alcohol brand owners, and others on a wide range of state and federal alcohol regulatory and licensing matters.

The Washington Wine Industry Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the growth and development of the Washington wine industry. Through scholarships, industry events, and initiatives related to sustainability and risk management, the Foundation works to foster a thriving industry.
