Corporate attorney Canfield is a rising star in Alaska’s legal industry and an emerging leader in Alaska’s business and civic communities. Her work on some of the state’s biggest mergers and acquisitions and her vital counsel to Alaska Native corporations and small and emerging businesses have placed her among Alaska’s leading M&A attorneys. She is also gaining prominence in Alaska’s legal community through her engagement in innovative, high-impact initiatives addressing urgent and unmet legal needs among the state’s most vulnerable populations.

An expert in buying and selling businesses, Canfield has guided key aspects of some of the largest transactions in Alaska, including the acquisition of Peter Pan Seafood Company, LLC in 2020 and the multimillion-dollar acquisition by a global mining company of a large Alaska mine in 2018. Last year, she led pivotal transactions for corporate and private equity clients in a range of sectors as well as for Alaska Native regional and village corporations, contributing to the success of Alaska Natives and Alaska’s sustained economic growth.

Canfield was selected to The Legal 500’s 2023 M&A Powerlist—USA Region, has been named one of “America’s Leading Lawyers for Business” by Chambers & Partners USA for 2020 through 2022, and was inducted into The National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 in 2019.

Canfield also uses her legal skills to make a difference in her local community and has an active pro bono practice. She is a volunteer attorney with the American Bar Association’s Free Legal Answers Program, a ground-breaking online platform through which she provides free legal assistance to Alaskans on an emergency basis. She further supports under-represented communities through her participation in Alaska WINGS (Working Interdisciplinary Networks of Guardianship Stakeholders), an innovative and collaborative approach to reforming state guardianship systems.

A Hall of Fame softball player at Delaware State University, a Division I school, Canfield mentors girls from her hometown through her involvement with the Alaska softball community.
