Construction Law Update: Announcing a New Washington Lien Law Treatise

We are pleased to announce the publication of a new Stoel Rives Washington state lien law treatise. Written by construction law attorneys Karl Oles and Bart Reed, the treatise builds on two earlier works: Professor Brian A. Blum's Mechanics' and Construction Liens in Alaska, Oregon and Washington, and Michael F. Keyes' Construction Lien Practice and Procedure Manual for the State of Washington. These resources had not been updated for nearly 20 years, meaning that Washington practitioners lacked a current and comprehensive review of current statutes and case law, until now.

"We hope that lawyers dealing with Washington construction lien law will find this updated resource useful, in the tradition of the treatises by Professor Blum and Mr. Keyes," said Stoel Rives partner Karl Oles, co-author of the new treatise, "and we welcome their feedback."

"The treatise has been designed with today's professional in mind," added co-author Bart Reed, also of Stoel Rives. "In an electronic, user-friendly format, and readily accessible for smartphone users, it is also searchable and can be updated without the confusion of replacement pages or pocket parts."

The new treatise, The Construction Lien in Washington: A Legal Analysis for the Construction Industry, can be downloaded for free at www.stoel.com/construction_lien_law. Copies for personal use may also be printed.
